If you have no a science fair project that-be should not it happen? Doing something just because it is "quick to make" totally defeats the purpose. To give you an idea, my edition of the science fair senior project took about 10 months. As a science fair judge me like a math project, which was calculated a girl (and later verified empirically) the likelihood of landing on certain squares on the Monopoly. That was a very simple, complete and fun science project. Could be too simplistic for grade 10 though.

What magic trick can be used to temporarily disorient the audience as they disappear?

I have heard of Flash Paper, and stun grenades, but we have something that will cause a bright flash and BOOM so you can disappear into the crowd after setting off one of these. What the hell is it called? I'm not having much luck Yahoo'n … but I know something like this must exist. Any wizards out there?? help!

Since a typical room stage to the audience? When you see this effect on TV, they are using many of accessories and special systems to help them who will not play in the most places. Some shows in Las Vegas, for example, built around the room to be able to do this. (I know some common methods, but mages can not reveal secrets, and do not do any good anyway.) You may want to reconsider their situation. To confuse an audience with only visual appearance, while not falling into their lack of personal space would be very difficult even for a mage or ninja. Certainly, there are ways to disappear from the scene, and after a suitable period reappear somewhere unexpected (and much of the magic you see on TV has built in time wasters of the Magi to give the opportunity to move).
